Mytob is Top

Mytob worm account for 14 of the top 20 most commonly reported viruses in the past week.

E-mail sent by the new versions of the Mytob worm masquerade as a seemingly legitimate message from an organization’s IT department or Internet service provider. They suggest there is a security problem identified with their e-mail account, and ask users to click on the web link to confirm their account. In a cunning twist, the e-mail makes references to the recipient’s domain name and e-mail address to give the message more legitimacy.

Clicking on the link in the e-mail message will not direct the browser to the domain name that is claimed, but instead go to a different website, which would download a copy of the worm. This variants are trying a new trick to infect people’s computers - phishing.
