Linux Mint 14 : Linux Mint 14 Desktop

Linux Mint 14 Desktop

Linux Mint 14

This Linux variant looks pretty much like Windows 7 when running with MATE 1.4 User Interface which was based on original GNOME2. I installed the Linux Mint 14 32-bit from [http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=119] on and old HP Netbook (HP-2133). Create a bootable flash (thumb) drive via [http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/] to kick start installation.

The Netbook’s Broadcom 4311 Wifi could not start. Need to run the following command to correct the driver. Start Terminal.
# sudo apt-get remove --purge bcmwl-kernel-source
# sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree
# sudo restart
Activate Wifi by navigating to:
Menu > Preferences > Software Sources
select Additional Drivers tab, check that "Using Non-free firmware for Linux kernel driver" is selected.
# sudo /usr/lib/linuxmint/miniWifi/miniWifi.py
