Creating Custom Print Formats in Windows XP
In Windows XP (NT / 2000), the printer drivers do not offer any custom paper sizes as in Windows 95 / 98 / ME. The printer driver setup in Windows NT / 2000 / XP does not have custom formats. However you can still create your own custom formats in Windows XP.
Here is the procedure to create custom form:
Open the Control Panel and then the Printers folder.
Click File and then select the Server Properties option.
This will bring up the Print Server Property Dialog. The next few steps show you how to create a custom form. In the example, we create a form name "1 / 2 Letter".
Check on "Create a New Form" in the Forms tab.
Give a new name.
Enter the desire paper size.
Click "Save Form" button.
Once you have created a new custom form (e.g. "1/2 Letter") that you can now select it from within your printer driver. The remaining steps are self-explanatory. Step 3 is the one that you choose the form that you have created earlier.
Windows NT printer drivers were created by Microsoft and our customised printer drivers (newer printers) are also based on this framework. If you have more questions, we would be happy to help you if we know enough about the problem and the solutions. Microsoft can also provide information on how to solve the problem.
