Zotob brings fortune to Anti-Virus Firms
Zotob is bad news for computer users and corporate IT staff but is good news for anti-virus software companies. McAfee, the No. 2 maker of anti-virus software, will be helped by a surge in demand for its products following infections this week from the Zotob computer virus, according to McAfee spokesman. Sales of computer security products to companies usually increase for a "couple of quarters" after such a large attack like Zotob. Businesses were looking to buy new products to protect against future problems.
Looks like virus writers are rebels with a cause! Or are are they? For sure they are giving security firms executive something to smile about - Year-End performance bonuses.
