PostgreSQL
POSTGRES was a subsequent UC Berkeley project that explored "object relational" and other technologies. It was described in the paper "The Design of POSTGRES" by Profs. Stonebraker and Larry Rowe, in 1985. POSTGRES supported the POSTQUEL language. At least one group of non-UC Berkeley developers took the POSTGRES code and added support for SQL. An the project was named Postgres ’95 and eventually to PostgreSQL.
