Installing MAc OSX applications
Download directory as a disk image (.dmg) file double clicking will expose the packager. Double clicking the package will install the program inside / Applications folder. The applications themselves are often self-contained objects called bundles.
Once the application is launched for the first time, a preference file will usually be created in either the Preferences or Application Support folder in / Library or / ~user / Library.
If you wish to uninstall an application, simply drag it to the Trash. There is no need to run any sort of uninstaller. If you really want to obliterate all traces of the app, delete the corresponding preference files in the locations listed above.
