Ayyampet (Ayyampettai) is a major town located close to Thiruvaiyaru, a renowned pilgrimage center, in Thanjavur (Tanjore) District. The place is known for numerous temples and heart of the farmland. The Tanjour District is often referred as the "Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu".
