AntiSpyware from Microsoft

microsoft antispywareAntiSpyware is a security technology that helps protect Windows users from spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Known spyware on your PC can be detected and removed. This helps reduce negative effects caused by spyware including slow PC performance, annoying pop-up ads, unwanted changes to Internet settings, and unauthorized use of your private information. Continuous protection improves Internet browsing safety by guarding over 50 ways spyware can enter your PC.  The solution uses extensive spyware-signature databases, real-time security agents and an innovative 'neighborhood watch' for spyware to protect customers from the threat of spyware and other deceptive software.

AntiSpyware feature a new computer "bodyguards" - These security agents act as your computer personal bodyguards.  More the 50 security checkpoints analyse all software and system changes made to your computer.  They allow only unthreatening changes to be made.  These bodyguards block known spyware threats and in some instances prompt you to make the decision as to block them.

the endSpyware scanning engine. The Microsoft AntiSpyware spyware scanning engine scans your entire system using a constantly updated database of over fifty thousand known spyware signatures. Due to the constantly changing environment, spyware signatures are updated regularly through SpyNet to provide you with ongoing protection.  If Spyware is Found During a Scan - If Microsoft AntiSpyware discovers potential threats during a spyware scan it presents you with a list of the threats found, detailed information about each threat, as well as recommendations for dealing with the threat.  You can view all the locations that belong to the detected threat. A threat location is the files, folders, and registry keys that a threat has installed on your computer. When deleting or quarantining a threat, all of these locations are removed from your computer. To find out more information about these locations, expand the locations by clicking the + plus icon or View all detected locations... under the description of the threat.   Microsoft AntiSpyware analyzes the threat and makes a recommendation on how you should handle the threat. You can, however, override the recommended action by selecting a new action from the menu of actions displayed within the results. In addition Microsoft AntiSpyware provides you with instructions for dealing with the threat. Below are the possible actions that can be performed on each threat detected.
