I have recently received the following error message while working in Mac Mail:

Mail was unable to remove the deleted messages in the mailbox xxxxxxxxx@mac.com on server ----.---.com. The server error encountered was: The connection to the server _______ on Port 0 timed out.

I am concerned that a previous employer installed spyware that tracked by personal email through Port 0. Is it possible to diagnose this??
