Effect of enabling No GUI boot setting at MSCONFIG.exe

No GUI is one of the tweak one can do to speed up the boot time on a slow Vista Machine.

But one side effect of enabling "No GUI boot", would be the slow startup when the Vista Machine had to startup in "Safe Mode".

Solution:

  • Go back to MSCONFIG.exe or "System Configuration" from the Start Button.
  • Switch to "Startup" Tab and check off "No GUI boot".
  • Restart the computer and press [F8] to put safe mode.
