Get Rid of the Access 2003 Security Warning Box

dialog box

Here is the simple Access program to help you to remove the above message "This file may not be safe if it contains code that was intended to harm your computer. Do you want to open this file or cancel operation?", each time you run any Microsoft Access 2003 or Access XP Program after you install Office 2003 Professional or Access 2003 Runtime.

Download (small 7KB but need Access Runtime install to run)

Unzip and double click on the program "msecure10.mde".  You be presented with a a simple instruction box "How to disable sandbox mode:  Click on Security Button [or] On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Security.  Click the Security Level tab, and then click Low.  Click OK.  Restart Access. Note:  At this security level, macros are always enabled when you open files.  Disabling the sandbox mode setting applies to all users of the computer."  Remember to select "Low" as illustrated below.  Accept the security warning.

What happens if a selfcert expires. Can the program (Acc03.mde) continue to open? Also how do I replace it with an extended expiry date with instruction to users

Thanks

You won´t get that option if its an Access 2003 Runtime app :)

In reply to Ritchie:
Rather than downloading a program to do it, just go TOOLS>MACROS>SECURITY in Access.

The little tool to remove the security warning for the runtime works absolutely great, many thanks!

It´s weird, if you think about it, using an access application to turn off the security for access applications. What does that tell you about the security of Access?

Hi Mark, I have tested on numerous runtime implementation. It worked on all.

In reply to Mark:
Interesting idea, but I dont think it will work on a runtime installation, if the user doesnt have Access installed.

This worked once, and now the security settings will not stay at low, they continue to change back to medium.
