Nokia E51 3.5G WiFi PhoneI have finally upgraded to a Symbian (S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1) powered Nokia E51. The E51 comes with a small but adequate 2 inch (240x320) transflective display which allows it to be readable even in bright sunlight. Here is the history of my previous Nokia Phones: - 1990 - Nokia Cityman - Brick Styled NMT Hand Phone.
- 1994 - Nokia 1011 - GSM Phone.
- 2000 - Nokia 3210 - Phone with SMS.
- 2004 - Nokia 3120 - Phone with expensive GPRS & WAP support.
- 2006 - Nokia 6220 - Similar to Nokia 3120 but with low resolution camera.
- 2008 - Nokia E51 - 3G phone with all the works.
As the E51 is suppose to be loaded with features to help balance your business and leisure time. Over the next few weeks, I am hoping to be able to: - Take pictures and capture video with the 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom.
- Browse the web with high speed WLAN connection and also 3G / HSDPA (3.5G).
- Access my e-mail while on the go with support for most leading corporate and personal email applications. It comes preloaded with readers (viewer) for PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files along with a Zip manager for handling compressed email attachments.
- Make low cost voice calls over the internet with its VOIP feature.
- Bluetooth (BT) connection from PC to access high speed internet via HSDPA.
- Listen to the local news with the built-in FM Visual Radio (remember to bring headset along, as this is also the radio reception antenna) when I am visiting a new city.
- And most importantly for me, will Stay connected to the people and information for over four days on a single charge if I go easy on it - it has about 4 hours of talktime.
Here is the retro photo of Nokia Cityman "Tai Kor Tai" which is about 10 times heavier than the Nokia E51. The Nokia Cityman is probably about 15 larger, in terms of the volume of space if occupied, comparing that to the Nokia E51. The Nokia Cityman comes with a clip which can be used to hang the phone on your belt with the antenna sticking upwards.
